Workshop for Mikuni Chochin lantern

In this workshop you learn an authentic way of making chochin lantern by making the framework, pasting the washi paper, and painting the chochin lantern in a same manner as making traditionally handicrafted Mikuni Chochin lantern.

Chochin lantern painting workshop

It is a painting workshop in which anyone can become familiar with techniques of the traditional handicraft.

Mikuni Chochin lantern Itoya is located in Mikuni-minato (an old town district of Mikuni in Fukui Prefecture) with its retro townscape and is a popular spot for sightseeing. There are many sightseeing spots and leisure facilities including Tojinbo.
